Fondation Claudine Talon launched in 2016 to address social development needs within Bénin. Operations for the organization center on a range of humanitarian and public health initiatives across the country. Financial reports from 2023 indicate that health-related activities accounted for 75% of the foundation's total expenditure by domain. This allocation identifies healthcare as the primary focus of the non-profit organization's resource distribution.

Advancing Specialized Pediatric Care

Infrastructure opened in May 2022 at the Centre hospitalier universitaire départemental de l’Ouémé et du Plateau (CHUD-OP) in Porto-Novo, establishing the first public pediatric oncology service in Bénin. This specialized unit provides clinical capacity through 32 hospitalization beds and five ambulatory care places.

To support families receiving care at this facility, the Fondation Claudine Talon constructed a residence known as the Maison des Parents. This structure entered service in 2023 to provide proximity to the oncology unit. The Maison des Parents contains 22 studios, a refectory, and a playroom for children undergoing treatment.

Expanding Rural Health Infrastructure

The Fondation Claudine Talon put a health center into service in Wanrou, located in the commune of Banikoara, during January 2022. The construction of this medical facility resulted from a partnership between the foundation and the Société pour le Développement du Coton (SODECO). This project aimed to expand healthcare access within the rural area of Banikoara. By establishing this center, the foundation and SODECO provided local residents with a designated space for medical treatment. The collaboration combined resources from both the non-profit organization and the cotton development company to complete the infrastructure. This facility remains part of the foundation's ongoing efforts to address public health needs across Bénin.

Targeting Preventable Disease Outcomes

The Fondation Claudine Talon has organized free cataract screening and surgery campaigns in collaboration with the Ministry of Health since 2021. Medical teams conduct these operations to address vision impairment across the population. Cataract surgery missions are scheduled for 2026 in five specific locations: Abomey, Aplahoué, Cotonou, Lokossa, and Parakou. These efforts represent a continued attempt to provide surgical interventions for residents in those areas.

Separate from vision care, the foundation has supported a screening and treatment program for precancerous cervical lesions since 2021. This initiative specifically targets women aged 25 to 49 living in Cotonou and Parakou. By focusing on early detection and intervention for this age group, the program aims to address preventable disease outcomes in the two cities.
